A Versailles floor is built from panels rather than planks. The pattern, a woven block of short pieces set within a border, is assembled at the factory into a square panel, and the panels are then laid as a grid on site. That is what makes the pattern practical: the geometry is controlled in the workshop rather than worked out board by board in the room.
The same pattern is produced in three materials, engineered wood, laminate and SPC, which gives a choice about where it can go. An SPC version can be laid in a space that sees water, and an engineered version in a room where the timber surface is the point. Specialty patterns beyond Versailles, including basketweave, chevron variants and diagonal lays, are made to order in the same way.
The floor suits large houses, hotel lobbies and show homes, where a plain plank floor would read as a large empty surface.
