The bar pull is the handle most kitchens end up using: a bar fixed at both ends of the door, in a length that suits the cabinet it sits on. It is specified by centre-to-centre hole spacing rather than by overall length, because the hole spacing is what gets drilled and what determines whether the handle lines up with the drawer front.
Three spacings cover most of the work. 96 mm (about 3-3/4 in) suits wall units and small doors, 128 mm is the usual choice for a 450 mm drawer, and 160 mm for a 600 mm drawer. Short handles of 76 mm and under are used on small cabinet doors where a full bar would be out of proportion, and single-piece handles that cover more than one spacing are available where one range has to fit several cabinet sizes.
The bar is made in zinc alloy or aluminium as standard, with stainless steel, brass and carbon steel available, and finished in matte black, brushed brass, black-gold, antique bronze, brushed nickel or gold. Screws are supplied, two or four per handle depending on the fixing points.
