A pull-out basket turns the inside of a cabinet into a drawer. Instead of reaching into a dark space to find the second pan, the basket comes out on runners and the whole of it is in front of you.
Baskets are made in stainless steel: a wire basket for pots, pans and dry goods, or a solid-base version where small items would otherwise fall through. Most cabinet widths are covered by the standard range, from 300 mm to 600 mm, and the basket is selected against the internal cabinet width rather than the door width, because that is the space it has to fit.
Tiers run from one to three, with two the usual choice for a base cabinet, and divider inserts are supplied to keep contents from sliding. The runners can be specified as standard, soft-close or hydraulic damping, which is one of the options buyers ask about most.
