The tank and the bowl of a one-piece toilet are cast and fired as a single ceramic body. Because there is no joint between them, there is no seam for water to sit in and no gasket that can fail with age, which is why the format is the one most often specified for bathrooms that have to stay clean with little effort.

Flush is siphonic as standard, with siphon jet available where the drain run needs more pull. Rough-in is the number to settle first: S-trap 250 or 300 mm for metric markets, or a 12 in rough-in for North America, with 10 in and 14 in also available. Water use is held to the 1.28 gallon (4.8 L) class tested to ASME A112.19.2 and CSA B45.1, and dual flush is available in 3/6 L or 2.6/4 L. Overall depth runs 28 to 30 in, width about 20 in and height 27 to 32 in, with the seat at 15 to 16 in, or 17 in for ADA work and 19 in for comfort height.

The seat closes softly and lifts off in one movement for cleaning, and the bowl is available in elongated (about 18.5 in) or round.
