What Defines It
Material does the work: rammed earth and earth plaster walls that read as horizontal building layers, unglazed terracotta, and charred timber.
Textiles and weaving include bògòlanfini mud cloth in black and white, raffia, sisal and basket-work wall pieces. Furniture is low and carved, with woven seats and drum-shaped side tables.
The palette is earth-toned in ochre, terracotta, charcoal and sand, relying on material contrast rather than saturated colour blocking.
Plans open to the outside through a pergola and built-in benches, with abundant daylight and shadow. Drought-tolerant planting in unglazed terracotta pots extends the interior outward.
