Style Lines in This Market
What Defines It
The traditional line draws on ganch carved plaster arched niches, panjara timber screens, and carved timber doors and columns. Suzani embroidery, ikat patterns and Bukhara-style carpets carry the colour, on a warm cream plaster ground with deep crimson, cobalt and ochre. Layout is symmetrical, with continuous low seating platforms along the walls for receiving guests.
Copper ewers, blue-and-white piala bowls and copper candlesticks are part of the setting.
The post-Soviet modern line is the actual majority in city apartments: a simple contemporary scheme with low-backed sofas, full-height storage and pale oak flooring. Regional character is expressed through textiles and wall hangings rather than structural carving.
