What Defines It
Ceiling height and daylight are the underlying constants: plaster cornice, tall windows and timber shutters appear across almost every line. The palette stays restrained in white, ivory, pale oak and deep muted green rather than strong colour blocking.
French classical relies on moulded cornice and ceiling roses, herringbone oak flooring, a marble fireplace surround, tall shuttered windows and wall panelling.
Nordic uses pale oak, white walls, paper lanterns, wool and linen, with low contrast and a deliberately minimal treatment.
Milanese modern works with handleless matt lacquered units, large-format stone, full-height wall panels and metal trim.
Altbau covers much older stock: very high ceilings, stucco ornament, dark solid timber doors, herringbone flooring and a corridor-type entrance hall.
Mediterranean extends outdoors with clay tile, timber shutters, wrought iron balustrades and terracotta planters.
